Hicks & Company provided karst response services to Wolf Ranch Multifamily Development project for evaluation of previously unknown karst features and caves discovered during construction, as well as the preparation of protection and/or karst feature closure plans. This project was located over the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulated Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone (EARZ) in an area known to contain endangered cave fauna like the Bone Cave harvestman (Texella reyesi) and the Coffin Cave mold beetle (Batrisodes). For this project, Hicks & Company investigated 16 previously unknown karst features (including six caves) identified during construction and prepared a TCEQ closure plan for each of the karst features.
