East Mountain Creek Interceptor

Project Name: East Mountian Creek Interceptor

Project Location: Dallas County, Texas

Project Type: Environmental Assessment

Owner: Trinity River Authority

Hicks & Company worked with the Trinity River Authority (TRA) of Texas to evaluate and recommend improvements and alignment alternatives for the East Mountain Creek and Northeast Lakeview Interceptor sewer mains between Mountain Creek Reservoir and Joe Pool Lake in Dallas County. The interceptors make up a component of the TRA Central Regional Wastewater System that serves much of the central Dallas and Fort Worth metropolitan region. Hicks & Company provided environmental services for the project including preparation of a Texas Water Development Board-compliant Environmental Assessment; development of technical studies to achieve clearance from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (wetland delineation and Preliminary Jurisdictional Determination with Pre-Construction Notification); and cultural resources surveys and report coordination with the Texas Historical Commission. The project involved evaluation of multiple alignments as well as a specific wildlife habitat mitigation study. Hicks & Company utilized the Texas Parks and Wildlife-approved Wildlife Habitat Appraisal Program to assess appropriate mitigation values to compensate for project-related impacts. The cultural resources survey was completed for National Historic Preservation Act compliance as well as state-level Antiquities Code of Texas compliance.
