Hicks & Company served as the Independent Environmental Compliance Manager on this 49-mile, new-location toll-road project, a role that encompassed all aspects of environmental compliance, including obtaining environmental approvals and regulatory permits prior to construction, providing environmental quality control reviews of the design, performing independent environmental compliance inspections of the construction, preparing and submitting weekly reports, and developing and implementing a comprehensive environmental protection training program. This assignment required ensuring proper adherence to environmental permits and other commitments during the design and construction phases of the project. Hicks & Company was responsible for the management and coordination of the Environmental Compliance Team and the NEPA, Section 404/401, TPDES, Section 106 and other regulatory compliance, permitting and mitigation programs. We successfully implemented an Environmental Management System, certified by the TCEQ at the Gold Level in 2007. The project was completed and opened to traffic in 2008.
