Hicks & Company prepared a Categorical Exclusion (CE) for a 2.2-mile expansion of I-35 West in Denton County. The project included schematic development, final design, and managing the development of the CE and resource specific technical reports for the TxDOT Dallas District. Environmental documentation included: an air quality conformity/congestion management process evaluation to be coordinated with the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG); traffic noise analysis using TNM 2.5; an archeological survey which was coordinated with the Texas Historical Commission; a wetland delineation and Section 404 permit determination; a TxDOT Biological Evaluation which was coordinated with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department; a community impact assessment and an indirect and cumulative impacts analysis; and a TxDOT initial site assessment for hazardous materials. The CE was approved by TxDOT in August 2015, and the project was let in September 2015.
