Hicks & Company was contracted by the Texas Historical Commission to produce site descriptions for its new Heritage Travel Guide, Hispanic Texans: Journey from Empire to Democracy. Descriptions of over 150 sites visited throughout the state convey significant themes in Tejano history—often highlighting lesser-known aspects of a site’s history—and were designed to engage the general public in heritage tourism. Hicks & Company Historians managed a team of travel writers and were responsible for ensuring accurate representations of thematic contexts.
